The Lincolns are expecting
They're making room for another
As of now we cannot know if
It's a sister or a brother.

Now Daddy Lincoln would be glad
We know his heart would leap with joy
If the something they're expecting
Turned out to be a boy.

The Lincolns have three lovely daughters
And they dearly love each one
But we're sure they'd be quite happy
With a darling little son.

And Mama Lincoln, this we know
Would be as proud as anyone
If she could please her husband
By giving him a son.

But if the bundle they're expecting
Should be a Miss with golden curls
The Lincolns will be sure to say,
"We're proud of our quartet of girls."
